I Forced Myself to Get Dressed Everyday This Week
Life's full of hard things. And this is one of those things.
Like I’ve so eloquently said many times now, I work from home. What’s the first thing you think of when you think of working from home? Probably something along the lines of COVID, but also something along the lines of wearing your pajamas all day. And while I do love myself a good pair of Roller Rabbit pajamas, I am not that person. I do indeed get dressed. But usually, if I’m in for the day, I’ll just keep on my clothes from my walk that morning. But now, it’s hot and so freaking humid in Texas, I simply cannot do that. My clothes are DRENCHED when I get back from my walk. How can a girl live with 90% humidity? My god. It’s dreadful. And it’s only June!!! (Can you tell I’m not into this Texas heat?)
In an effort to make myself feel better, I challenged myself to get dressed every day this week. Maybe you’re like me, maybe you’re not, but I don’t like to re-wear clothes much so if I wear them, I want them to be seen. So, these outfits are pretty lackluster. Boring. I didn’t want to be showstopping for myself and my dining room table that doubles as my desk. And, comfy jeans are hard to come by. So, you’ll usually see me wearing the same three pairs. I have about 100 pairs, but you know, some are strictly for standing. We all have those jeans.
I’ll try to provide details on where these outfits are from, but I’ll give you a warning, some of them cannot be found. I’ll explain more, but just know, recreation may be unachievable. And you may not even want to recreate them because as I said before, they’re boring. But I told myself I was going to do it, and telling you that I did it makes me feel like it was worthwhile. I’m still working my way up to the everyday makeup. We’re not there yet. Baby steps!
So, without further ado, the week’s outfits. If you hate them, don’t tell me. I can’t handle it. Just kidding, but not really. Still need to clean this writing off my mirror. Maybe next week.
Monday:
T-Shirt: J. Crew
Jeans: Lafayette 148 (I won’t even pretend that I paid full price for these. That would be absurd. I don’t have that kind of money. I got these discounted when I used to work for a stylist and we went to New York. I also love these jeans more than anything in the world. I call them my “airplane jeans” they’re that comfy. I don’t think my mom likes them though, because she says they sag on me, lol).
Shoes: Dolce Vita (I got these on sale at Dillard’s probably 5 or 6 years ago. Not a chance I could find these online, but I give an alternative).
Tuesday:
Can I be honest with you? I looked back at my photo from Tuesday. It was awful. I am casper the ghost in the cream-colored dress. That photo will go to the grave. Cannot be seen! So, here’s my replacement outfit from the Friday before.
Top: J. Crew
Jeans: Anine Bing (I got these at a sample sale in New York, so I have no idea if they even made the cut to be sold, but I gave another pair. I love their jeans, they’re comfy).
Shoes: T.J. Maxx (Izzy, my mom, and I all got the same pair. Love them. Very cushiony).
Wednesday:
Top: Some random boutique in Dallas that I cannot remember the name of.
Jeans: Banana Republic (these are basically jeggings, hahaha. They are so comfy. Which is shocking because white jeans are usually very stiff. I love them. But they are a bit too big. Don’t even care. They’re on MAJOR SALE).
Shoes: Zara (I guess they don’t make them anymore).
Thursday:
Tank: Target (part of my excessive Target haul a few weeks ago. Please buy this in every color it’s so cheap and comfy).
Sweater: No idea where I got this. I’ll try to find something similar here.
Pants: I got these in Lake Como. I haven’t found anything like them since. When I say these are my favorite pants in the world, it’s not an understatement. I wear them ALL. THE. TIME. You’ll see).
Shoes: Veja
Friday:
Tank: Target (again, a part of my giant haul)
Sweater: Anthropologie (this is like 7 years old, sorry, but I’ll give you another option).
Jeans: Anine Bing (same ones as faux-Tuesday’s fit. These are my Friday Jeans, haha).
Shoes: T.J. Maxx probably. The label fell off so here’s these.
And many people ask about my phone case. I love it. It’s funny and cute. Here it is! From Etsy. I love this girl. I bought hats from her, too!
Maybe this gives you some summertime outfit inspiration. Maybe this gives you inspiration for what not to wear. Who knows. Either way, I’m holding myself accountable so that’s all that really matters! I promise I have better clothes and I’ll show them sometimes! Next week, I’m only going to wear dresses and they’ll be more practical for summer.
Xx, Annie
